I joined Crossfit Destroyer in December 2014. I had just completed physical therapy for a couple of roller derby injuries, but was determined to do CrossFit to gain more strength. Well, what a journey it has been. I honestly cannot get over how much Joe and Stephanie of CrossFit Destroyer have done for me with their awesome training and coaching. Not to mention the environment, which is clean and fun. The members include an awesome group of people who inspire one another to achieve goals that seem unattainable.
Over the past couple of years, I have become so much stronger and conditioned with greater mobility and flexibility. My injuries have healed and I believe the training has made me less prone to sports injuries. Prior to joining Crossfit Destroyer, I experienced pain nearly every morning somewhere in my body from playing a rough sport. Upon continuing with Crossfit Destroyer, the pain subsided, and I feel great in the morning. The only soreness I ever experience now is muscle soreness from time to time.
On December 1, 2016, I decided to aim for some new roller derby goals. My desire was to lose weight and body fat to further develop explosive power, speed and agility on the track. I have never attempted to get “cut”, but have always desired to have a lean physique with muscular definition. Don’t get me wrong, I had a healthy, muscular body from doing CF Destroyer for two years, but wanted to achieve these new fitness goals.
I have worked out, since the age of 19, but never thought that this was possible to attain the physique I now have. Stephanie offered to assist in the area of nutrition. Stephanie placed me on a macronutrient plan tailored to fit my personal needs and goals. As a result of her expertise, I have lost 21.5 pounds, and have gone from size 6-8 pant size to a size zero! I have lost inches off of every part of my body. I am down to approximately 10% body fat. When I first began this journey on 12/1/16, I was at approximately 25%.
Not only did I attain the physique I’ve desired all of my life; I have also gained so many other health benefits. I can’t wait to get on the scale at the doctor’s office for my upcoming annual examination. I feel so much lighter walking up stairs and moving around. My clothes no longer fit uncomfortably, because of belly fat. My skin feels softer and smoother. I have an enormous amount of energy, and I don’t need as much sleep. I have developed physical stamina along with mental discipline, because of the training I have received through Crossfit Destroyer. I am able to focus on giving my body what it needs as opposed to what it wants.
I simply cannot rave enough over all of the awesome benefits of having joined Crossfit Destroyer. I am healthier and more fit now at age 45 (soon to be 46) than I have been in my entire life, and I feel like I am getting younger, instead of older. As a result of Stephanie’s nutritional coaching, I’ve had multiple people ask if I compete in body building competitions. So, I actually decided to pursue this, and am scheduled to do my first figure competition in June 2017! This whole experience seems surreal! When I wake up in the morning, I realize this is all still real, and I take pleasure in knowing I possess good health, and can get out of bed energized to participate in another WOD (workout of the day).
I am so grateful to Joe and Stephanie that I thank them every day when I leave Crossfit Destroyer. I’ve also made friends with everyone there and look forward to the many more years ahead we will share together encouraging, building one another up, sweating together, and getting more and more fit with each WOD.
